Foundation – Step 1 to a beautiful face
Contrary to popular belief, foundation doesn’t have to cover your entire face. The main purpose of foundation is to even out your skin tone. Just apply enough so it looks like your skin is all the same color. Basically, you’re minimizing things like scars, acne spots, freckles, blotchiness and the like. If you already have perfect skin tone – awesome, you may not even need foundation!
To pick the foundation color right for you, visit your local Avon store and ask for help. If you prefer to do things on your own, pick the color that seems closest to you, then grab that tester and the colors to the left and right of it. Dab a bit on the left, center and right of your chin. Grab a mirror so you can see up close and blend each one individually. Choose the one that blends in the best.
To apply foundation, use your finger, a sponge or a brush. Sponges tend to soak up a lot of the product, so you’ll run out faster. My favorite way to apply foundation is with a brush. It takes a little bit of practice to get it right, but it feels like painting, but on your face. Done properly, the foundation gives you a much more natural look than fingers or sponges do. Again, you do not need to apply foundation to your entire face. Start out with your nose, then apply to chin, cheeks and forhead as needed. If you have serious issues, you may need to do your entire face, but that it not the norm. If you do have serious issues, consider asking for advice on your skin care regimen to help clear them up.
The second step to a beautiful face is concealer – coming soon.
